Cancer Update

Curious about my cancer adventure? This link will take you to the chronological postings.

But first a word - well, four actually:

No, I'm not dying!

Well, at least not as far as anyone knows ... except in the sense that we all have some expiration date.

In my "Ta-ta, to tatas" column of October 2025, I shared the fact that I had been diagnosed with breast cancer. While the statistics are all in my favor going forward as it was discovered early, chemotherapy was dictated as a precaution. For those who have gone through it or have been close to someone who has, it is a bit of a marathon spread out over several months. While the treatment unfolds, upset stomach and hair loss are a couple of the side effects. But probably the most challenging is a lack of energy that can make sitting on one's backside oh-so-inviting.

This is also one of those life events that can make any of us feel a bit awkward. We may be curious how things are going, yet not want to ask. On the flip side, to not ask may seem as if a person doesn't care. There are also tons of other reasons why two people may not want to stop what they are doing and have a heart-to-heart.

But I think husband Art and I have largely addressed this problem. Since we are both family history types, and know how unreliable memory can sometimes be, we tend to journal life events that are important to us for later reference. In this instance, we decided to post these so anyone - ourselves included - can easily refer to them.

I might add that this is also part of a larger effort to document various life events from the past, which if you dig through the links you can find.

I also wish to mention that I am more than willing to chat about anything, be it face-to-face, over the phone, by text or e-mail.

Gloria
