Treasurer Morganville Feves Committee
Morganville, Kansas

Dear Mr. Roenigk:

It is good to hear from you again and to know that Morganville continues on its work with the town of Feves. Mrs. Carson told me long ago of your many projects and since I work with the Book Programs at CARE, I am especially glad to know that you recognize the need and value of books for children.

We can now send the children's books to schools and children's libraries in France. These books are all in English, but we find that they are most acceptable to schools in every community where there are some teachers who know English. The books in our Children's Book Fund have been selected by a Bibliography Committee of experts in that field and even though the packages cost only $10 and an entire Bookshelf of five packages costs only $50, they contain a well rounded selection of beautiful children's books. Many of course are illustrated and that has a great appeal for the children. The books in Bookshelf B are also useful for young people and even adults who are studying English.

The CARE Book Fund offers books suitable for high school or university level. Again, all of the books are in English and whether they are sent to Indonesia or Finland, we have no complaint on that basis. The recipients are so delighted to receive late books in their various fields of work that they always find some one who can assist them with translation if necessary. It amazes us that even in the far corners of the world in these institutions there are men on the faculty that know English so that the books are of great value even though they may be of a highly technical type. The books included in the Book Fund under English Language Instruction are especially valuable to any institution where English is taught. We now have a $10 English Language Instruction package which can be sent to institutions in France that is aimed to assist high school students or anyone who has an educational background in the study of this language.

However, if you wish to develop a project to send children's books in French to your affiliate town, we would be very glad to work out the details with you. You can understand that we cannot do this unless it is a project of some size for it does mean research work to find the books which fit the need of the community. Will you kindly let us know what size of project you envision. We will then be glad to help you develop the details. With a hope that we may be able to work with you in sending books to Feves, I am -

Yours very sincerely,
