Take Tape Recordings

Elmore McKee of the Twentieth Century Fund and Lou Hazen [Hazem] of the National Broadcasting Company, both of New York, were in Morganville Tuesday and Wednesday making tape recordings with a number of people of the community. Mr. McKee had been here a number of times and seems like an old friend, but this was Mr. Hazens first visit. The Twentieth century Fund and N.B.C. are developing a series of 13 one-half hour programs which will show democracy at work at the grass roots level. The Morganville-Feves affiliation is one of these. Four of the 13 programs will deal with good labor management relations in industry. The rest will deal with community situations.

Mr. McKee stated that, what appealed so much to them in Morganville is that we find the people working together and taking the initiative in doing something specific to help the world situation. The purpose behind all this is to show specifically in terms of action what the essence of democracies are and to strengthen enthusiasm for the American way of life.

The Twentieth Century Fund was founded in 1919 by the Boston Department Store of which Edward Filene is the owner. Its purpose was to increase the understanding of American people about economic issues. Among directors of Twentieth Century Fund are Paul Hoffman and Charles Taft. The office address is 330 West 42nd Street, New York. These programs will probably be heard about January 1.
