Interest In Pageant Widespread
Preparations are completed for the Historical Pageant to be presented at the stadium tomorrow evening. We wish we
could tell of the great amount of work which has gone into the preparation to make it a success.
Several interesting things have happened the past week which indicate the interest that is being shown in this
event. The State UNESCO at Manhattan is sending a delegation to take pictures. This was very pleasing to us and
later word came from Operation Democracy in Washington that a recording of the script for the pageant, written by
Velma Carson, will be taken by Robert Sonkin and that it will likely be broadcast by the World Wide Broadcasting
System on Voice of America to Europe.
One interesting fact is that Morganville is the smallest community in the United States applying for the adoption
of a European community. Life Magazine also is interested in the event and if a man is available, one will be sent
here in the interests of that magazine. New London, Conn., the birthplace of Ebenezer Morgan, one of the founders
of our city and for whom it was named, contacted Velma Carson this week. The paper there wishes a story in view of
the fact that New London was his birthplace. Mrs. Frank Chapman of Clay Center is from that city and knew of Mr.
Morgan.
If anyone (as many as possible) could donate a freezer of ice cream, call Mrs. H. L. Oetinger. - This would make
her committee happy.
The committee appreciates the publicity given the pageant by last week's Clifton News, and Monday's Clay Center
Dispatch. A nice story from the Associated Press appeared in several papers also.
