To Hold Pageant to Raise Funds for Feves, France

Special Celebration Will Be Held At Morganville, Friday

A big historical pageant, with 150 people in the cast, will be presented at the stadium next Friday evening at 8 p.m. The pageant is being sponsored by the UNESCO committee there.

The pageant will not only depict much of the history of this area, but will also have scenes of international significance. The pageant has been written by Velma Carson.

A band under the direction of Mrs. Orville Young, will present the music for the performance.

Admission is free to the event.

There will also be a number of booths of the UNESCO theme and the evening of entertainment and education will be ended with an old fashioned dance, also to be held at the stadium.

Morganville has adopted the French village of Feves and plans the pageant to help raise funds to provide rehabilitation for that war damaged town.

Both Morganville and Feves are little farming communities of about 300 population. The citizens of Morganville feel that they will be able to help Feves because of the needs of both communities are so similar.

An added inducement to the people around Morganville is the fact that Feves was damaged by our own bombers during World War II and the people here think they are especially deserving of aid.

The pageant and street fair at Morganville is designed to raise funds for rehabilitation work at Feves. Work shoes and warm clothing will also be donated since the people of Feves need the same type of clothing the people of Morganville wear.

Farm seeds and food will also be sent to Feves.

The selection of Feves was made through UNESCO.

The pageant will start with a skit on Capt. Ebenezer Morganville, a Yankee seagoing whaler. After retiring from the sea, he came to this section dreaming of a wild west ranch. He helped to found the town that was named after him.

Different skits will feature all parts of the world and many of the 150 people in the pageant will be wearing costumes brought back by returning servicemen.

Velma Carson, Morganville, wrote the pageant, and Mrs. Orville Young is directing the music.

An UNESCO photographer will be at Morganville to take official pictures and some of the program may be recorded for broadcasting in France.
