UNESCO Items
James Walter, president of the Clay County UNESCO Council, has had a good response to a questionnaire sent out recently
in regard to leadership and possible working projects. There will be more news on this subject soon.
On Sunday evening, May 30th, the Methodist Church is cooperating with a program of music, a 20 minute film and speaker.
The movie This Road We Walk will explain relief and rehabilitation work in devastated countries. This graphic report of
where our money goes is considered timely by the committee as Memorial Day contributions have already been received for the
Childrens Crusade by persons wishing to honor their loved ones in this way.
After the film and speech, Mrs. Alex Purves class will sponsor a social coffee hour downstairs.
Next winter many people in the world will be warm in Morganvilles shared sweaters, coats and woolen skirts and dresses.
A hundred pounds of clothing has been collected by the clubs and the church and shipped to the Methodist committee for Over
Seas Relief in St. Louis, Missouri. This committee will join the Church World Service organization in seeing that these
clothes are distributed to the needy persons abroad.
Mrs. Ed Merten says that twenty-five pounds of especially collected clothing have been sent to the pen pals of her Sunday
School class in Germany. Mrs. Merten packed the larger box and also reports that we can be proud of the quality of our
gifts. Many bombed out families will be more comfortable because the clothes are not too worn out to be useful.
