My Dear Mr. Torlotting,

It was a real pleasure to receive your letter of March 7 [5 is correct date], also the picture of the children�s Xmas party. Since my last letter to you, we have ordered four more CARE seed packages sent to you for distribution, this making a total of 9 packages. We sincerely hope that they arrive in time so that your people can plant them at the proper time. The distance is great between Morganville and Feves and freight shipments take a long time. We were also pleased to know you received the first shipment of clothing and powdered milk O.K. By all means, send me the children�s writings and I will have them translated into English. We too have trouble in getting the letters translated, as most of our French people here come from Canada and they speak it a little different. I have a son who is attending the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis and as he has studied French for 4 years, I get him to translate them for me. We have a priest in a nearby town who can translate and we are going to have him do this for us. Our committee is now working on a project to have our Morganville-Feves Pageant translated into French and we have about 19 large pictures which we will mail with them at that time, so you will have an idea, how everyone was anxious to help your people, who have suffered so much in the last war. I am listing the things we have sent your town to date and would like to know how they arrived.

We would like to send you some lard and would like to know if you could use a shipment or anything else you need that�s hard to get in France at the present time. The Morganville girl who is now living in Paris has the following address, in case you would like to write her in regards [to] their planned trip to Feves. Spring is here and the farmers are busy planting their spring crops of oats, clover and grasses. They will plant the corn in about three weeks. Our wheat crop looks bad as quite a bit was killed by the severe winter and two of our women who were on the baby clothing committee received letters this past week from Father Holveck and they were glad to know that the package had arrived.

Let me know as soon as possible if the women could use some lard or anything else that is needed by your people.
