Dear Mr. Mayor,
I wish to inform you that Mr. Daniel J. Roenigk, from the Roenigk Real Estate Agency in your city, has written to the
Commercial Attache of my Consulate General, stating that the town of Morganville has adopted the town of Feves (Moselle)
France and asking for information concerning the transfer of money as a gift to the people of the French town. He also
requested information regarding the shipment to Feves of a picture showing a harvest scene in Kansas.
It is indeed very kind of the people of your city to take such interest in the welfare of my countrymen and I am grateful
for their interest.
I would be very much obliged if you would kindly give me some information regarding the adoption of the above town by your
city and whether this step has been officially recognized by your office or if it has been taken by a private committee.
Could you also let me know the value of the painting.
Upon receipt of this information, I shall be in a position to contact the French customs and will do my best to straighten
out the matter.
Sincerely yours,
(signed)
J.J. Viala
Consul General of France
His Honor the Mayor,
Morganville, Kansas
