D. J. Roenigk received the following clipping from a newspaper near Feves, France telling of the death of Mayor August Berne, and a picture of the deceased mayor.

Mr. August Berne passed away November 28, 1951, at the age of 64 years. He was mayor of the locality since the liberation and municipal counselor since 1925. He was very popular. The deceased was sympathetically known and esteemed in the village and surrounding territory. He loved his native land and left taking the regards of those to whom he ministered. All were his friends.

Mr. Berne, since he was made head of the municipal council of Feves, devoted himself without cost in favor of the population. Thanks to him, bonds of friendship were established between the village and the American city of Morganville, which showered gifts on her god-daughter. He and his family were expelled in 1940 to Lavaur in Tarn. To Mrs. Berne and his family we offer our sincere condolence.
