Beginning in November 2023, as the Committee of Volunteers wrestled with the Keats sewer situation, one problem kept reappearing: how to
communicate news to our neighbors? People tire of going to meetings. Changing e-mail addresses means someone is invariably left out. The
U.S. Postal Service charges increased from $0.68 to $0.73 per a 1 ounce first-class mailing. Facebook and similar services invite
advertising and tracking. So Gloria and I volunteered to create a website to address the problem.
But it later occurred that something akin to an online newspaper might provide much more. The sewer problem IS story number one, but
hopefully it won't always be and a more general site could serve to bring our community together without being intrusive. We received
an e-mail from community member Laurie Johnson echoing the same thoughts.
We are committed to giving it the old college try with the hope the website is useful and someone will, at some point, step forward to take
the reigns because, as you know, we folks of a certain age are busy.
The focus will be on the Keats area. Several have estimated that if all goes smoothly, the sewer situation will take in the neighborhood of
three years from start to finish. So that is one topic to cover for the foreseeable future.
This past May, we added a community calendar. We will stay in touch with Phyllis Walters as a source of upcoming events and will update the
posting at a minimum at the start of each month.
