After having written a weekly column called "Snapshots" for The Riley (Kansas) Countian newspaper for more than eight years,
early in 2010 I began publishing its successor, "Kansas Snapshots," online.
The purpose of my column is three-fold:
1) to share personal stories that have a universal message,
2) to provide a mini-family history for my children and other family members and
3) to refine the craft that I expect my journalism and mass communications students to practice.
The Website will be a work in progress with the emphasis placed on the content of the columns and not on Web
design. All columns, whether written for the Web or for the newspaper, are available online and are organized by year
of publication. The index for any year may be reached by selecting the corresponding year in the "Past columns" links above.
I will post a new column every Friday. If you'd like a reminder when a new column is online, e-mail me at
[email protected] and put "subscribe" in the subject line. If
you wish to leave a comment or make a suggestion, e-mail me at the same address.
I hope you enjoy "Kansas Snapshots."
Oh, and if you are curious about the logo, it is discussed in My last constant.
